Bodamya Tepe is an oasis of refreshing green in the dramatic landscape of the picturesque village of Islamlar. Set at the head of a stunning gorge with views down to the sea at Kalkan, the restaurant sits in a jewel of a garden with tables on the verandah shaded by vines or dotted throughout the valley garden, all with spectacular views. A trout stream runs through the garden, allowing the proprietor, the good- humoured Hasan, to offer fresh trout daily. The food is fresh Turkish fare from an extensive menu, sourced, cooked and served by Hasan and his quietly professional team, from light snacks to beautifully grilled meat or fish fragrant with herbs and more-ish crepes with ice cream. Being a traditional Turkish restaurant, children are very well catered for with children’s dishes, a small playground and gardens to explore while the ducks potter about unconcernedly, frogs croak by the pool and parents enjoy an Efes on the terrace. Visitors to Islamlar and Kalkan return to Bodamya Tepe year after year, seduced by the incredible location, the excellence of the home-cooked, fresh food and the warmth of the welcome. After a hot day at the beach, a trip to the ancient ruins or a walk through the surrounding countryside, Bodamya Tepe refreshes the body and soul.
